Quotes...that strike a chord

This blog post will be a running list of Quotes that immediately strike a chord with me. I will also credit the references next the the quote (so as to stay out of any trouble)
  •  When a metric is made into a target, it ceases to be metric any longer (Goodheart's Law in simple words).
  • Just because a bug is logged does not mean it will be fixed. Similar to just because a user story is added to the backlog, does not mean that it will get implemented.
  • When you get kicked from one place to another like a football, don't loose hope, the football is moving closer towards its end goal. (the only thing I remember from this movie)
  • "Spend more time on credit than on blame, and don't spend very much time on either one." (reference
  • I do not take right decisions. I take decisions and work towards making them right (Mr. Ratan Tata)
  • If the product is free, then you are the product (recently heard at the TCS TACTICS data privacy symposium)
  •  Values when you are raising funding for a startup (source: Economic times)
    • Transparency: Be true to yourself. Some consultants advised me to double my future revenue numbers. But it will create trouble, when you have to actually show the performance.
    • Don't give up too much stake: This is not going to be your last fund raising, you will have to raise more funds in future.
    • Look for the right partner: Choosing an investor is like a marriage They should jell well with you, which you would realise just in the first meeting.
